Gastroenterology

The Department of Gastroenterology has 15 doctors and 16 nurses, including 1 chief physician, 4 associate chief physicians, 7 attending physicians, 5 medical doctors and 5 masters of medicine as well as 2 returned scholars. The 5 master supervisors in our department have instructed more than 10 graduate students, undertaken more than 10 research projects at provincial and ministerial level, published more than 100 papers, and compiled or co-wrote more than 20 medical monographs. 

 

Several of our experts are serving as members of the standing committee of Guangdong Medical Association of Gastroenterology, Digestive Endoscopy Society, Hepatology Society, and Guangdong Medical Doctor Association, and some are taking the positions of chairman or deputy director in the Standing Committee of Zhuhai Medical Association of Gastroenterology, Digestive Endoscopy, and Hepatology.  

 

We have PENTAX full range of electronic endoscopy, such as hosts 6 sets, and more than 30 electronic endoscopies, including electronic endoscopic ultrasound, electronic duodenoscopy, electronic gastroscopy, colonoscopy, dual-channel gastrointestinal endoscopy, pediatric electronic gastroscopy and endoscopic treatment equipment as well as capsule endoscopy and magnification chromoendoscopy. In addition to outpatient and inpatient services and routine endoscopic examinations, several endoscopic therapies are offered by our department, including endoscopy retrograde cholangio-pancreat(ERCP), endoscopic sphincteromy(EST), endoscopic nasobiliary drainage(ENBD), endoscopic retrograde biliary drainage(ERBD), endoscopic mucosal resection(EMR), endoscopic submucosal resection(ESD), endoscopy varicose vein ligation(EVL), and endoscopy variceal sclerotherapy (EVS).

 

The Department of Gastroenterology carries out clinical, teaching and research work with reference to diseases in gastrointestinal systems. The department boasts 38 inpatient beds, receiving 12,000 inpatients and more than 20,000 outpatients each year. More than 8,000 people are treated each year. The number and types of diseases meet the basic requirements of gastroenterologists training. We will regularly carry out a variety of training activities, including discussion of confusion and death cases, professional lectures, teaching ward-rounds and English learning.
